Summer School Begins NOW
Original artwork: my photography (self portrait at the Ohio River) digitally rendered into Gouache oil on stone, titled: “Sister, I will Carry You”, circa 2009
So I’m waiting to hear back from an advising doctor at the University of Florida where I’ll ultimately work on a master’s in Forensic Science, particularly in that of Serology (the study of bodily fluids) and DNA. I’m most interested in Crime Scene Investigations- sans the body. If I could get past the whole “dead body” thing, I’d rather work there but I’m just not sure I could hang with that. (I’m sure at some point I’m going to have to get past that.) I have a keen interest in forensics and so I’m hoping Dr. ******* will be able to advise me on which B.S./major (Biology, Biochemistry, Criminal Justice) I need to pursue so that I can effectively move in the direction of Serology and DNA: I won’t be settled until I have my game plan on lock down!
To get a head start, I’ve found an awesome (free) forensics site in which you can enroll in (again- free) courses that include audio seminars- complete with course modules, syllabi, etc. I’m beginning with blood spatter analysis tonight. It’s going to have to hold me over until I can begin school in the fall.
For any potential CSI/DNA/Serology buffs, here’s the link:

Enjoy!
Go Gators!!! I live like forty give minutes away from UF.

Well I know who I’ll be looking up if I have to do a stint there. 🙂

Hey YOU. Wow! on moving ahead and finding the way to find your way. :)) Good for you. It is really amazing what the internet can bring us and I am so glad you found this free course. It will ready you and give you a better feel for the coursework. And maybe keep outta trouble . . . . hahahah. okay LESSS free time for trouble, you restless storm of a woman. I always check my emails every few days in summer for the student that needs something. Most teachers dial back in summer, but I hope you get your answers soon. Cool art! Strong composition. is this painted on stone? disturbing and yet hopeful, partly the green leaves and partly because these are still standing feet. As always love to hear about your journey B. Happy for you. xx

Hey, thanks so much, Y, as always! It’s “digitally painted” on stone. I could have chosen loose hemp canvas, stucco, sand, ir any other “digital medium” but it worked best with the smoothness of the stone, I think. The message in the image is a strong one: “carry one another’s burden”, and many times that means when our feet are bleeding from the weight of another’s burdens- keep walking!
And yeah, too much free time- blargh. I need to be academically busy. Otherwise, I sit around watching crime shows all day…ha. Not much different than school anyway! ;0)
