    • Thanks so much, Y! The organization even sends a letter to your potential job prospect- that’s pretty awesome. I’ll using this for my resume for sure…heheh. It’s a good way to wrap up the semester. 😉

    • Thanks, Dr. C! 😉 Nothing to worry about on this end. Every society (or any type of club- anywhere) has membership fees. I understand that that’s how they can pay back into their over $2000,000 scholarships annually. For me, the $85 membership fee is like $8,500- (yes, I’m that poor!) but I know a good payoff when I see one. To be able to name drop on a resume and also, using that to my benefit in getting into my grad school- both of those are worth more than the price to join; I’ll be able to open new doors just on that “claim” alone. Being nominated isn’t the same as being inducted though. It’s a 5 step process and yes, community service is part of it! (As is contributing to writing a few pieces for the leaders, etc.) But still, it’s worth it to me because every little thing that you can add on your resume- in that area- it’s totally worth it. Plus, it’s guaranteed lifetime membership. It’s not even close to being a scam- the author of that article has every right to question its authenticity, but I think he or she should’ve done a bit more of their homework before asking the internet if it’s a scam…heh. And as we know, homework is my specialty! 😉
