I don’t think so. She was pretty dry, but- looked like blood in the sun (hence the title). Couldn’t believe those textures and colours!

Very much so. These trees are mostly rooted in earth but surrounded by sand with many of their roots exposed, due to being routinely flooded by the Ohio River. This was one of its very vibrant roots, believe it or not. Crazy, huh?
